Laiyu was born from a desire to preserve and celebrate the rich traditions of Sekmai, Manipur, while offering a fresh, modern twist to a timeless craft. In our small, vibrant community, Sekmai has long been known for its expertise in brewing, a legacy passed down through generations. Inspired by this heritage, we set out to create a beverage that not only honors these traditions but also introduces a unique flavor that sets us apart. Our journey began with the idea of blending the aromatic warmth of cinnamon with locally sourced ingredients to create YU, a cinnamon-flavored alcoholic drink that embodies the soul of Manipur. Rooted in traditional brewing methods, we carefully craft each batch of YU to ensure an exceptional balance of flavor, authenticity, and craftsmanship. What started as a passion project soon grew into a commitment to share the flavors and culture of our homeland with the world.
